Karaikudi is situated in Sivaganga district in Tamil Nadu state of India.Karaikudi known as the capital of Chettinad, which includes Karaikudi and the surrounding 74 villages. It is bounded on the north and northeast by Pudukkottai District, on the southeast and south by Ramanathapuram District, on the southwest by Virudhunagar District, and on the west by Madurai District, and on the northwest by Tiruchirappalli District.
